Concours season.

Concours season is in full swing at the moment, last weekend was the Queensland clubs Concours held at Southbank. The Mercedes-Benz Club of New South Wales is holding their Concours on the 8th of September and details of this event can be found here.   This the NSW's clubs 30th year so they are planning to celebrate in style!  There is a cocktail party to be held on the night before at Sanderson's (Mercedes-Benz dealer) in Rose Bay.

The Mercedes-Benz club of the ACT are holding their 27th Annual Concours two weeks later on the 22nd of September.  The ACT club concours is held in conjunction with the Shannons German Autofest and details can be found here.  (You need to download the .pdf file).  Further details of the ACT club concours will be published in the next newsletter.  They are also having a dinner on the Saturday night at the Southern Cross Yacht Club.  For details of the dinner, please phone Anne Madden on 02 6288 1892.  Last years concours for the ACT club was excellent, here are some pictures from it.

As you can see from the pictures the ACT club event draws some very special cars.  This year we are hoping to have two rare W5 models from the 20's.  One is a tourer and the other is a coupe.  We may also have a replica of the W196 race car!  This has been built by a chap in Adelaide and is an amazing piece of work.

Back in Newsletter number 6 we gave the address for getting your data card from the Classic centre in Germany. This new development is great.

One mans 450SEL

The saga of poor David's 450SEL is continuing. Here is a copy of the article he has just written for the latest Victorian MB club newsletter.  We all wish him well in his endeavours!

OZVETS get together.

Remember a few newsletters ago we launched the OZVETS mailing list?  Well, we are going to be having our inaugural OZVETS Annual get together at the Mercedes-Benz Club of the ACT Concours, mentioned above, on the weekend of the 21 and 22nd of September.  We are also planning to have a mini meet at the NSW club concours two weeks before hand.  This will be a great chance for all of us to actually meet each other and check out the hardware!

Links of the week.

- Bored? Try this site. or if you are really bored, try the larger bubbles.

- Try this for fun. You will need some very minor German or some imagination. Undr "Marke" select your model and then under "Preis" select the price range you want to buy in. In most cases you will also have to specify a model as well as the search will return more the 1000 examples. To go to the r/h side and enter the model you are dreaming about. There is a tick box for "Oldtimers" down the bottom, this can bring up some interesting old cars. Also check out the weird stuff like Wartburgs and Trabant's.

Cars for dismantling.

We have only one new car this week:

280SE 1982 W126 sedan, this is the roughest W126 I have ever seen!  It was traded at a Mercedes dealer in Sydney and has to been seen to be believed, how people can let a car get to this state is beyond me!  But, it does seem to have rather good mechanicals despite its 380000kms indicated on the odometer.

Cars for Sale.

Still waiting for the guy to pick up the 300D! So if you were interested let me know? The 180b has been sold to a chap in Queensland before I could get you a picture.

The big news is that we have a VERY low mileage 190E coming into stock next week. It has travelled only 68000kms from new and is in fantastic condition. Smoke silver with cream M.B tex and sheepskins.

Don't forget that to see a full size picture of any of the cars we have for sale just click on the picture.
