Ozvets mailing list.

As mentioned above the big news this week is the new Australian version of the "Mercedes veterans mailing list". The list is sponsored by M.B Spares and Service and will be administrated by Davide Frada, who is one of our newsletter list members.

Not sure what a "mailing list" is? It is a collection of people with a common interest. They share their interest by e-mailing each other stories, information, questions, jokes, and what ever else seems appropriate about the interest that the particular list was set up for. Mailing lists can be wonderful sources of information and friendship.

The internet is full of these, covering every topic from baseball to Zoo's. Have a look here to see a list of some of the Mercedes related ones on the net. The lists on this page and the new Australian list are all hosted by the owner of mbz.org.

To join the list just follow the instructions found on this page. You will be sent an e-mail confirming that you want to subscribe. When you have activated your subscription you will start to receive e-mails on a regular basis from other Mercedes-Benz fans here in Australia. There is also an option to received the e-mails in a digest form rather than one at a time. This can be helpful for people who have limited time to download. If you try it and don't like it, unsubscribing is just as easy.

Cars for dismantling.

Anybody who tried to ring me last week at work would have found I was not there. I was in Melbourne from Tuesday to Thursday, and whilst there, I attended two of the major damaged vehicle auctions. From this newsletter onwards, we will be listing the cars that have come in, since the last newsletter, for dismantling.

190E 1985, light l/h front damage, 197000kms with very good mechanicals.

380SE 1984, stolen and recovered, interior trashed but a good car, some damage l/h front corner, great options including electric rear seat, good mechanicals.

300SEL 3.5 1971, bad r/h front damage, interior is poor but it has a great brown dash board, electric windows all work, good engine and auto.

Link of the week.

Mark Hewitt sent me a link to this site. It is one of the many pages on the huge M100 site. The page is a reproduction of an artical on the 600 that was featured in April 1999. There are a few mistakes in the text including the claim that the engine is "all alloy" but generally it makes for great reading. The M100 site was featured in one of out earlier newsletters and makes for a great nights web surfing.

Cars for Sale.

It would appear that 300D's are still as popular as when they were released back in 1976. The green one that came in two weeks ago was sold before it even got to the detailers. The low mileage 300SE didn't materialize, but another '86 300SE has. The '91 230E has also been sold. We have two very nice W124 sedans just arrived. An '86 230E sedan with only 182000kms and a very nice '91 300E 2.6.

Don't forget that to see a full size picture of any of the cars we have for sale just click on the picture.
