Supporting Australia's Classic Mercedes-Benz Owners

Newsletter Number 19

Hello and welcome to another newsletter.

Any questions? Or you want to get off the list? E-mail us here.

John Green.

Mercedes Pick Up??

Mercedes-benz's largest market is in the USA and as a result many of their styling decisions are based on the whims of the US vehicle buying public. Have a look at this. No, it is not an Eclass on steroids, it is the latest design study from Benz aimed squarley at the US market. If they build it, it will most likely share a chassis with a Dodge!

Sad computers!!

Do you get depressed with your computer some times? Here is a computer that is really depressed.

300d with history for sale.

There are two types of history that make a classic car worth buying. Obviously we would all like to own a classic car with a full service history including every receipt from new. But what is always interesting is when a car "has a history". Check this one out. I wouldn't mind having this one in my collection. It even has a copy of the original rego papers with the original famous owners name clearly on them.

More safety cell demonstrations.

How about this for a classic demonstaration of the passenger safety cell. This picture was sent to me from one of the auction houses that sell insurance company right off's. I bet you can open the rear doors no problem. I wonder what happened to the car that hit it?Here is another excellent demonstration of the safety cell.

AMG Coupe for sale.

I have decided that the AMG coupe brought last year must go. As I am expecting to sell it to an overseas customer I have done a special web page for it and the price is in US dollars. Have a look at the page here.

I was contacted by e-mail only a few days ago by a chap who thought he also had an AMG coupe like mine. But when I told him of the many differences between a standard coupe with some bolt on flares and the real AMG profudct he was both surprised and disappointed. I have included a few pictures of the proof that this is the real thing. These include:

- Speedo reads to 280kmh not 260kmh and has an AMG logo in the middle.

- There is a special sticker on the boot explaining the differance in tyres and rims from standard.

- Sticker on the engine and on the radiator support panel indicating that it is a modified engine. There is also a second engine number, stamped just under the normal one proving that it is from the AMG stable.

Apart from the above all the springs, shockabsorbers and exhaust also have AMG stickers or part numbers on them.
