MB Spares Newsletter 143
MB Spares Newsletter
143
November 2016
Hello, in this Newsletter we have news of some staffing
changes, a last minute invitation to attend this year’s Spanners and Sausages
and news of a significant milestone.
Well, it has been almost one year since the last MB Spares
Newsletter, and what a year it has been. We must be doing something right as we
have experienced a very sustained increase in sales with a resulting lack of
time to do Newsletters and our other normal promotional work. Add to this the lack of staff detailed below
and we have been pushed to the limit. Things
have been so busy we didn’t even enter a car at this year’s ACT club concourse.
We have, however, turned the corner and
hopefully normal programming will return soon.
Staffing
In June this year an era came to an end. After 12 years service Murray Mules left us
for a quieter life. This of course was a
huge blow to us and finding a replacement has not been easy. After a long search, we have appointed Jason
Windley to the position of Spare Parts Manager.
The picture to the right is Jason on the right and Chris Righton, our
service manager, on the left. Jason
joins us with over 20 years spare parts industry experience.
We will also be looking for a second spare parts sales
person, so if you feel you might fit the bill please contact us.
Spanners &
Sausages.
Tomorrow, Tuesday the 8th , is the 22nd
annual Spanners and Sausages night with the Mercedes-Benz club of the ACT. An event that has been described by the club
as one of the year’s major highlights for them. Previous years have certainly indicated this
with up to 50 members attending.
As usual we will be offering a range of gourmet sausages and
cold drinks before a tour of our workshop and spare parts facilities, starting
from 6pm. You do not need to be a club
member to attend, so feel free to come along and meet the club members. (you
can even join the club on the night) You
can see pictures from last year’s event here.
20 years on the net.
The 1st of November just past was another
milestone for MB Spares. It marked the
20th anniversary of our first website being published. MB Spares has always worked to be ahead of the
curve in terms of internet presence. Something
that these days includes Facebook and the like. We even managed to publish our first webpage
before Mercedes-Benz Australia did. It
is for this reason that that we use the slogan “Australia’s first Mercedes-Benz
dedicated web site”.
Thanks to the
Internet Time machine we
can see what it looked like. This first
page was hand coded with the MB Spares staff needing to learn the HTML language
and come to terms with FTP server commands.
Whilst we would have loved to have time for a big 1st
of November event, we are hoping to do something in the new year to recognise
this milestone.
Motorclassica.
MB Spares displayed two pre-war Mercedes-Benz’s at this year’s
Motorclassica. This is Australia’s
premier Car display and Concours deElegance.
You can find
picture and some details in this album on our Facebook page (You do not
need a Facebook account to look at the pictures)
Cars for sale.
One of the business activities that has been put on hold as
we concentrate on spare parts sales have been our range of used cars. It must be noticeable as we have had a
number of customers comment on the lack of shiny cars out the front and on our
website. We do however have this very
nice C180k
Sports Coupe for sale at the moment.
So that’s it, we will do our best to get a quick Newsletter
out in early December to advise our Christmas hours. In the meantime, you can keep up with what’s
happening on our Facebook page.
Thanks for reading,
John & Sandra Green.
