All W126's with M110 engines have the VIN number and engine number in the
same place. In the pictures below follow
the red arrow for the VIN number and the blue arrow for the engine number.
- The VIN number is stamped into the fire wall behind the heater valves and to the right of the brake booster when viewed standing looking into the engine bay.
- The engine number is stamped into top face of the cylinder block immediately behind the ignition distributor and above the idle speed screw. NOTE, that if the top face of the cylinder block has been machined at any time the engine number can be machined off or at least very hard to read.
