Vehicle History:Owned by OzBenzHead for four years; acquired by him from David Hancock (Melbourne), who acquired it from John Green (MB Spares & Service), Canberra. History prior to that unknown to present owner.Upon acquisition, the LSD rear axle sang a loud, high-pitched song when under power, so was replaced with a rebuilt one. While the car's rear end was in the air (for the rather long-winded axle replacement process) corrosion attacked the fuel system, damaging the injectors. This is being addressed at present. The next project will be stabilisation of the air suspension (the rear likes to drop rapidly when the engine is shut down - probably a rear valve issue). The interior has at some time (under a previous owner) been retrimmed. Whilst quite a good job, the seats were done in MB-Tex: more practical in the northern NSW climate, but not, unfortunately, original specification. The door cards are, however, still leather. The car is named Bela - after Bela Barenyi, the genius behind many M-B safety-related inventions (including the occupant safety cell). | |
