Genuine Mercedes-Benz workshop manuals
Do you work on your own car? Need information? Look no further,
Mercedes-Benz produce a huge range of workshop manuals for their authorized
workshops to use. These manuals are not made available to the general
public here in Australia by the authorized dealer network. It is company
policy of DaimlerChrysler Australia/Pacific to not sell any form of
technical information to the general public. If you don't believe me, go to
your local dealer and ask them for a workshop manual!
Obviously there is a strong need for this kind of information, so we have
sourced the following range of Genuine Mercedes-Benz workshop manuals on
CD-rom and DVD which replace the old printed manuals that are now out of
print. Overall, this is a much better system. Each CD-rom comes with the
software required to read them.
These workshop manuals are broken up into two different types:
Firstly, the Star Classic series, that is a reproduction
of the printed manuals for the classic Models from 1946-72. The Star
Classic series is broken up into 3 volumes each with two discs and one
volume with a single disc. Each disc handles a couple of different chassis
models. This is a bit strange as for example the 190SL owner also gets a
copy of the 600 manual! (see volume 4). We are prepared to sell each CD-rom
as a separate CD to help reduce the costs. Each CD in Volumes 2,3 and 4 in
the Star Classic Series sells for $95.00AUD. Or you can by both in the
volume for $179.00AUD, Volume one sells for $179.00AUD as it is a single
disc.
Customers in the US should remember that $1.00AUD is only about $0.83USD.

Volume 1 covers models: 170 [W136, W191] from 1946 to
1955, 220 [W187] from 1951 to 1954, 300 [W186, W188, W189] from 1952 to
1962. This is a single CD at $340.00
Volume 2Disc 1 covers models: 180 [W120]
from 1954 to 1962, 190 [W121] from 1956 to 1961, 219 [W105] from 1956 to
1959, 220 (W180/128) from 1955 to 1960
Volume 2 Disc 2 covers models: 220 [W111] from 1959 to
1965, 230 [W111] from 1965 to 1968, 250 [W111] from 1966 to 1968, 280
[W111] from 1968 to 1971.

Volume 3Disc 1 covers models: 190 [W110]
from 1961 to 1966, 200 [W110] from 1966 to 1968, 230 [W110] from 1966 to
1968, 300SE (W112 sedan and Coupe) from 62 to 67, 250 [W108] from 1965 to
1968, 300SEL (6 cylinder version W109) 65-67.
Volume 3 Disc 2 covers models: 280 [W108] from 1968 to
1973, , 300SEL 3.5 and 6.3 (W109) from 1962 to 1973.
Volume 4Disc 1 covers models: 190SL
[W121] from 1955 to 1963, 300SL [W198] from 1954 to 1962.
Volume 4 Disc 2 covers models: 230SL [W113] from 1963 to
1967, 250SL [W113] 1966, 280SL [W113] from 1968 to 1971, 600 [W100] from
1967 to 1972.

Then the modern cars. The CD-roms and DVD's are divided up
by chassis types. To know which CD is the right one, you need to know what
chassis type you have. If you are not sure about this question,
have a look here. The
information we need is the first three numbers from the chassis number. The
W124 and W126 CD-rom is a double CD set, however we don't break these up.
These are only sold as they come .
Model 107 covers 450SL and SLC, 380SL and SLC and 560SL
from 1972 to 1989. Suggested list $325.00AUD
Does not cover the 280SL/SLC internals for the engine. Can be used for the
350SL and SLC as the differances to the 450SL/SLC are very small.
Model 114/115 covers 220D, 240D, 240D 3.0, 230, 250, 280,
250C, 280C from 1968 to 1975. Suggested list $265.00
Does not list the 200 but this is not a problem as the 200 and 230 with
the M115 engine are very similar.
Does not cover the injection system of the 280E, the internals of the
engine are covered as they are the same as the 280.

Model 116 covers 280S, 280SE, 450SE, 450SEL Suggested list
$265.00
Does not specifically cover the 280SE from 1973-76 with the Bosch D-jet
injection system, this is not a real problem as the engine manual for the
450SE covers this system in great detail, you just have to think laterally
and remove two injectors.
Does not specifically cover the 450SEL 6.9. The suspension system is
covered in great detail but the internal moving parts of the engine are
not. The injection and ignition systems are the same as the 450SE so these
are covered.
Model 123 covers 240D, 300D, 300CD, 300TD, 280E/CE/TE
Suggested list $250.00
Does not cover the 230E internals for the engine.
Does not cover the 250 internals for the engine, the Solex 4A1 carburettor
is covered as it is the same as the 280.

Model 201 Covers, 190E, 190E 2.3, 190E 2.3-16, 190D, 190D
2.5. can be used on the 190E 2.5-16 as there are very few differences to

Does not cover the 4 cylinder 200, 200E, 230E internals for the engine.

Model 202 Covers C220, C230, C230 Kompressor, C280, C36, C43. The C180 and C200 are not directly covered but the information for the C220 and C230 is exactly the same so these is no problem using this manual if you own a C180 or C200. Suggested List $300.00
Model 140 Covers 300SE/S320, 400SE/S420, 500SEL/S500, 600SEL/S600, 500SEC/S500 Coupe, 600SEC/S600 Coupe, CL500 and CL600 Suggested List $340.00
Model R129 Covers 300SL/SL320, 500SL/SL500, 600SL/SL600 Does not directly cover the SL280 however as the engine is the same as the SL320 you can use this manual if you own a SL280 Suggested List $320.00

Each of the above CD-roms does not have any information on the internals
of the Automatic transmissions. I have no idea why this is so, but it has
been this way for years. Even in the days of printed manuals, the
transmissions were not covered. The only information I have seen on
Mercedes-Benz transmissions was on micro fiche, which is no longer
available.
Unlike the printed version where you have to buy a separate manual for the
engine, chassis, transmission and climate control/air conditioning, these
cover everything including all the various engines that fitted the chassis.
For example there is over $500.00 worth of manuals on the W107 CD-rom.
