Website Newsletter subscribers will know that in April this year we announced the closure of our workshop for regular servicing work and its conversion to a restoration and preservation facility for Classic model Mercedes-Benz vehicles. This change was made as a result of John's ill health last year. To read all about the details see Newsletter's 113 and 115.
Well now we are three months on from that huge change and have some interesting results to report. The first one is to continue with the huge thanks to all the understanding and best wishes that we received from some of our now "past" customers.
It seems that we are in some ways just as busy as before, certainly in terms of the number of cars each night in the shop there has been little change. What the change has been is the time frame expectations of the owners of the Classic models were are now working on. And it is this change that we were hoping to achieve. So I now need to thank our remaining customers for their understanding.
One of the very interesting trends is that we all of a sudden have requests for mechanical rebuilds on the W123 series, having had one significant job a week for the last 5 weeks. The W123 had "Classic" status bestowed on it in 2005 on the 20th birthday of the final car produced. It would appear that much as it is in Europe this model is now starting to be very much appreciated here in Australia.
We have started the major restoration of the 300d that was sold last years and are completing the 220a that will be going to Singapore at the end of this year. If you would like to see some examples of the work we can do, have a look at our restoration page.
